Project: Yard Expansion
Location: Fort Carson, Colorado

Description

Construction of over 15,000 feet of track containing twenty number 10 turnout and two number 9 turnouts. Relocation of over 3500 feet of track as well as thirty percent tie replacement, concrete crossings installation, track surfacing, and installation of cushion head bumping posts.

 

 


Customer: Whirlpool
Project: Whirlpool Distribution Project
Location: Aurora, Colorado

                                                                   

Description

United Railroad Services Co. was subcontracted to Panattoni Construction on this project to install the necessary track to service the new Whirlpool Distribution Center in Aurora, Colorado.
This was a challenging turn-key project with many elements including, earthwork, storm sewer, water line encasement, asphalt paving, curb and gutter, concrete road crossings, rail shed enclosure, fencing, signage, earthen berms and under drain.
The project consisted of 1750 feet of new track construction, 133 lb. rail on new concrete ties, four number 9 turnouts and three sliding derails.

Project was completed on-time and under-budget.
 


 

Customer: Vestas
Project: Wind Turbine
Location: Brighton, Colorado

Description

United Railroad Services Co. was subcontracted to Nolte Engineering on this project to install the necessary track to service the new Vestas Blades and Nacelle facility in Brighton, Colorado.
The project consisted of construction of over 30,000 feet of new ballasted track, 930 feet of direct fixation track, new 115 lb. rail on new hardwood ties, sixteen number 9 turnouts, nine number 11 turnouts, two number 11 RCL turnouts with switch heaters, two number 15 power turnouts and signalized concrete road crossings. Installation was of both public and private crossings.
This was a difficult project with severe penalties for late completion; the project was completed on-time and under-budget with high praise from UPRR, Vestas Blades, and Nolte Engineering.
